Sixth Form

We are proud of our Sixth Form at Gumley and believe that there are strong reasons for choosing a Sixth Form career with us. Gumley provides a wide range of courses taught by experienced and dedicated teachers who will give you constant help and support. We strive to help our students to develop not only academically but also morally, spiritually and socially.

All students are welcome at Gumley. We offer experienced pastoral care and as a Catholic School opportunities for worship which other institutions may not be able to offer.

Our Sixth Form offers you the possibility of extending and continuing your studies in an environment which is familiar to you, with staff who show genuine interest in you and in surroundings which are pleasant and stimulating.

Due to expanding numbers over the last few years we have developed our Sixth Form Centre which now has the best facilities available for Sixth formers within the area. This includes a social area which is a very popular meeting place and our excellent library. Sixth form students are able to study independently and quietly in the library area or work together in groups in the new study area which includes a suite of computers solely for Sixth Form use.

The approach to study in the Sixth Form is far more flexible than in the first five years of secondary school. You are helped and encouraged to take more responsibility for your own learning, to organise your time wisely and to enter into the life of the school in a way which develops your initiative and capacity for leadership. Many fun activities are also organised by Sixth Form students themselves – social evenings, meals, feast days, activities and residential trips.

The culmination of two years hard work is celebrated both at the Leavers' Mass and the Sixth Form Ball where students can acknowledge their years of companionship and friendship. At Gumley we follow with interest your progress not only throughout your time with us but beyond when you leave to go on to Higher/Further Education or work.
