I am the network manager at the school and I have frequently been asked how to help parents care for their children's safety online, so I have put together a few items that will help parents become aware of the perils of the internet and provide access to some tools that will help educate and protect all those who venture into this wonderful world wide web.
Firstly, the governments CEOP agency provides some information and resources.
The BBC has an online training course for online safety.
Childnet also provide some very good information and resources.
K9 from BluCoat is free Internet filtering and control software for the home.
Netmop is a subscription based solution that is also very useful.
Although we can take steps to control our children's internet activities, it is still important to remember that education is far better than control and we need to make them aware of the risks and opportunities available online so that they can protect themselves.
If you have any comments or questions or other resources you would like to share, please feel free to contact me at school.
