A Level and GCSE Results Celebrated

A Level results

They once again reflect the students’ hard work, the inspirational learning environment and dedication of the staff in the Sixth Form and the invaluable support of our parents.  We are very proud of all our students’ achievements and share their excitement at gaining their first choice places at university and Art college.  Particular congratulations go to the 32%  of students who achieved 3+ grades at A*- B.

Left to right: Catherine O'Rourke, Alice Gray, Adriana Doroshenko, Millicent Ellison-Buah,

Very well done to
Shauna Kavanagh,
Head Girl 2012-2013 who achieved A* A* A grades in her A Level subjects.  She will be reading English at York University.  in the Sixth Form she won a place on the GYLC

These students are moving on to read a diverse range of subjects at Russell Group universities including Mechanical Engineering, Japanese, Law, English, History, Biological Sciences and Maths. We congratulate all of our girls with a special mention to: Maria Leonard, Adriana Doroshenko and Shauna Kavanagh who each achieved A* A* A and Sarah Galloway and Sandra Raszewska who both achieved 3 A grades.

As part of our international programme, last year for the first time, 3 students from a top senior school in Milan joined Gumley’s 6th form for their AS level studies. Not only did they all gain grades A-C in all of their subjects but they also excelled in Maths with all achieving an A grade and one student additionally gaining an A in Chemistry. More Italian students will be joining us in September for the next academic year.

We were delighted to welcome Councillor Sachin Gupta, Mayor of the London Borough of Hounslow, who spent time talking to and congratulating the students on their achievements which bucks the national trend in exam results.  There is much to celebrate!  Not only have 83% of our students achieved 5+ A*-C grades significantly higher than the national average, we have seen a 7% increase in 5+ GCSE including English & Maths to 71%.  57 of our students received 5 or above A*/A grades and despite the introduction of the tougher exams in the Sciences, 83% of Physics students and 82% of Biology students gained A*-B grades.

We are proud of all our students and recognize the success of each individual but special congratulations must go to the 16 girls who all gained 9 or more A*/A in all their exams.  Particular congratulations go to our Maths students who achieved 82% 5 A* - C , a rise of 9% ;  the 170 English Literature students of whom 96% achieved grades A* - C  (81% A*-B) and the music students who achieved 100 % A* - A. This year saw our first cohort of students taking their GCSE in Mandarin.  Congratulations to Joanna Lada who achieve an A* in Mandarin as well as all her other GCSEs. MFL students excelled across all languages but especially Italian with   95% of students gaining A*-B (& 76% A*/A).
