Oxford University, Somerville Study Day
Sixth Form Enhanced Academic Learning
Four of our Year 12 students recently took the opportunity to spend a full day in an Oxford College.
The study day involved an academic taster session in the subject of their choice– our students chose Neuroscience, Cardiac Disease, Biology & History- which incorporated specific information about studying the subject at Oxford.
The itinerary included a tour of the College and the main university sites, lunch in Hall and learning more about how to apply to Oxford.
Tabitha Bower reports on her experience:
“I really enjoyed the lectures I attended at Somerville College, Oxford, on cardiovascular treatment. Not only did I enhance my knowledge of a field I previously knew almost nothing about, but I got a real feel for university life and an insight into what I might want to study later on.
We were also given great advice about university admissions to Oxford as well as in general and met many amazing, like minded individuals who shared the same passions as us. We were lucky enough to have a gone on a sunny day, and so additionally got to admire Oxford’s beautiful colleges in the nice weather. Overall it was an excellent opportunity and a fun day out.”
