Interclimate Network’s – Climate Voices

Gumley’s Eco club students showcase their work at this National Summit Conference at Portcullis House, Westminster

Climate Voices’ brought together a number of UK schools with high profile speakers.
 

Our year 8 and 9 students showcased their sustainability projects as part of the ‘Climate Action Fair’. Additionally, they participated in workshops & talks covering issues from energy to waste and recycling, whilst also hearing from a range of key contributors that included:
 

  • The Rt Hon Sir Ed Davey, MP
  • The Rt Hon Dame Caroline Spelman MP
  • Mary Creagh MP, Chair Environmental Audit Committee
  • Kirsty Schneeberger MBE, Client Earth
  • Maureen Grant, Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust
  • Lord Paul Tyler, Honorary President, ICN
     

Our Eco club has been very active with the launch of some extraordinary initiatives that include:

  • Living Water -Think Not Sink’ Production of Gumley reusable water bottles that will be sold in our cafeteria.
  • Give Nature A Home – Creation of our bird boxes will provide a nesting site for birds in the London Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve.
  • Endangered Species Project Students produced Orang-utan cut outs that were also displayed across the school.
