Gumley Students Support The Local Community
Students Support Two Homeless Charities & Young Children in West Middlesex Hospital
Focus of our Liturgy Services: Every December, as part of Gumley House School's Advent Liturgy all students from each year group, prepare gift parcels for individuals and families within the local community; who need a little extra support at this time of year.
Acton Homeless Concern and St. Mungo's in Hammersmith are the two charities working with the homeless that we are supporting this year.
The parcels contained a range of non-perishable foods plus toys and are given to families with young children as well as the elderly.
This is a tradition that Gumley has continued with for the past 55 years and one that as part of our social justice work remains very important to all of our students.
Students are able to make their contributions as part of prayer services which are held over a 3 day period in the last week of the school term.
West Middlesex Hospital:
Additionally, a group of our Year 9 and 10 student Liturgy Representatives enquired how our school could support the hospital and were invited to attend this year’s Children’s Christmas Party at West Middlesex Hospital as part of their ‘Faith in Action’ programme.
The students visited children on the Starlight Ward spending time talking to these young patients as well as delivering cards and gifts to them.
