MFL Student Teachers attend an inspirational day at Gumley
Student Teachers from St. Mary's University Visit Gumley
The Gumley Modern Foriegn Languages Department hosted 38 student Teachers from St Mary’s University in Twickenham for a day of inspirational talks, lesson observations and debates. The 38 student teachers found the day extremely uplifting and inspirational.
This fantastic event continues our long lasting partnership with St Mary’s as Gumley continues to inspire the teachers of the future. Four year 13 students who are heads of learning led a workshop on "How Learner Voice and teacher-student partnership can be a vector for change and innovation in the classroom" which was thoroughly well received.
Some of the student teachers wrote to us to describe their experiences of the school:-
"I'd be grateful if you could pass on my thanks to the four Y8 students who took the time out of their busy schedules to give us a tour of the school. They were polite, friendly, well-mannered - but most importantly, they were proud of the school, of its grounds and of its fantastic facilities. All four were keen to talk of the school's history, and how happy they were to be part of its future."
"My personal highlight of the day was the 3 year 13 students who presented themselves in such a professional manner it was hard to believe they were still students! Their passion was almost tangible and I can only hope that I will be lucky enough to teach students like them in my career. Thank you to everyone once again for an inspirational insight into the world of teaching!"
