Year 10 & 11 Students achieve work experience at GlaxoSmithKline
This autumn, two of our Key Stage 4 students gained this exceptional ‘Molecule to Market’ three day placement.
Congratulations to Tabitha Bower & Diya Gracias Velho whose applications resulted in achieving this very competitive work experience.
The aim is to: Inspire students to study science-related subjects at a higher level, gain an insight into working for a pharmaceutical company such as GSK and understand the opportunities and wide range of careers available in this industry.
This full 3 day programme included: Drug Discovery, Clinical Trials, Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Manufacturing, Marketing plus key career advice and interview sessions with GSK’s employees.
Tabitha says: “I thoroughly enjoyed my work experience placement at GlaxoSmithKline and I was able to meet some incredible professionals. We were all given the task of creating and later marketing a drug that would cure asthma in either the short or long term which challenged us to think both logically and creatively.”
and from Diya: “I learned how difficult it is to create a medicine that can save lives; that really stood out for me. This programme was amazing.”
